Common Issues

⚠️

Conversion

Conversion failed on first attempt

Occasionally the AI model requires a brief warm-up period, especially after a fresh app launch or when your device has been busy with other tasks (such as unlocking with Face ID, running another app, or returning from the background).

Fix: Simply tap Retry on the failed song. It will complete successfully. This is a one-time warm-up issue and does not affect subsequent conversions in the same session.

  • 1Wait 2–3 seconds after the error appears
  • 2Tap the Retry button on the song tile
  • 3The conversion will complete normally
🎵

Import

Song duration shows as --:-- in the list

Songs imported before version 1.0.0 (build 25) may show --:-- as the duration because duration was not recorded at import time in earlier versions.

Fix: Delete the song from the library and re-import it. The duration will be correctly detected on import from version 1.0.0 onwards.

📱

Subscription

Pro subscription not showing after reinstall

If you reinstall Halalify or install it on a new device, your subscription status is not automatically restored — you need to restore it manually.

  • 1Open Halalify and go to the About tab
  • 2Tap Restore previous purchase
  • 3Your subscription will be confirmed via your Apple ID

If restore does not work, ensure you are signed in to the same Apple ID that was used to make the original purchase.

Playback

No audio or very quiet playback

If the converted track plays but sounds very quiet or contains only faint background noise, this is expected for songs where the vocal content is minimal or heavily processed.

Check that your device is not in Silent mode and that the volume is turned up. Also try toggling the Halalify button in the player to switch between the full track and the isolated vocals.

⏱️

Performance

Conversion is taking a very long time

Conversion time depends on the length of the song and your device's processing capability. Longer songs (5+ minutes) may take several minutes to process on older devices.

Keep the app open and your screen on during conversion — if the app goes to the background, processing may be paused by iOS. Ensure your device has sufficient battery or is plugged in.

The free tier includes 1 conversion per calendar month. Your quota resets at the start of each new month. For unlimited conversions, upgrade to a Pro subscription (monthly or annual) through the App Store.

No — songs you have already converted stay in your library forever, regardless of your subscription status. Cancelling Pro only affects your ability to run new conversions beyond the free tier limit.

All subscriptions are managed by Apple. To cancel, go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone and select Halalify. You can also tap Manage subscription from within the Halalify About tab. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.

Halalify removes the musical instruments from a song, isolating the vocal track. However, removing the music does not automatically make a song fully Halal — the lyrics themselves also matter.

If a song contains lyrics that are inappropriate, indecent, or otherwise impermissible, listening to the vocals alone does not resolve that concern. We encourage you to reflect on the content of the songs you choose to play and make a considered personal judgement.

We are exploring the possibility of adding a lyric content analysis feature in a future update to help identify potentially non-compliant lyrics — but this is not available yet. For now, Halalify is a tool to remove music; the responsibility of choosing appropriate content remains with the listener.
